Friday, Mar 24, 2023

COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 24, 2023) South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority (SC Housing) chairman Todd Latiff has announced that Governor McMaster has appointed Brent Mackie to serve as a member of the agency’s nine-member Board of Commissioners.

In addition to Mackie’s appointment, Charles E. Gardner was reappointed to the agency’s Board of Commissioners for his fourth term. Mackie is an executive banker at First Reliance Bank in Lexington, where he specializes in loan production, client servicing, team building, coaching and developing lenders, de novo locations, merger and transitional leadership, and installing company culture and vision. Prior to his work at First Reliance Bank, Mackie served as the regional senior vice president at South State Bank in Myrtle Beach.

Mackie holds a bachelor’s degree in administrative management from Clemson University and a master’s degree in banking from Louisiana State University’s Graduate School of Banking.

Gardner was initially appointed to the SC Housing Board of Commissioners in March 2012. Gardner served as community services director for the city of Greenville prior to his retirement in 1999.

He holds degrees from Voorhees College and Greenville Technical College, is a licensed real estate agent and has received numerous awards for his work in affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization and community development.

SC Housing’s Board of Commissioners, comprised of individuals with diverse experience in housing, finance, business and community service, establishes policy for the agency and oversees its operation. Both DHEC and the Governor’s Office have statutory seats on the Board. Other members are appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the South Carolina Senate, for four-year terms.
